  8.        BACKGROUND
  9.        
  10.        SETUP Error #2002 occurs when the floppy drive writes information
  11.        to the Stacker installation incorrectly. The "damage" may result
  12.        from improper floppy drive alignment that is not within the
  13.        specifications of our disks. However, specific files on the disks
  14.        that you need to install Stacker are most likely already damaged.
  15.        
  16.        SOLUTION
  17.        
  18.        Call Product Support Services to get replacement disks. Please
  19.        have your serial number ready when you call for replacements.
  20.        
  21.        Once you have received the new (replacement) set of disks, the
  22.        problem is easy to overcome. To ensure that you don't damage your
  23.        new set of disks, we recommend that you create a working set of
  24.        disks from the new disks. Use this working set when you run
  25.        Stacker Setup.
  26.        
  27.                                      Note
  28.                 Your ORIGINAL Stacker disks contain bad
  29.                  data, but they are probably still good
  30.                  disks. Format them and then use them as
  31.                  the target disks when you make your
  32.                  working set of installation and system
  33.                  disks. Put new labels on these working
  34.                  disks so you won't confuse them later with
  35.                  the master disks you just received from
  36.                  Stac.

  39.        To create the working set of disks from the new master disks:
  40.        
  41.         1. Format your ORIGINAL (defective) set of Stacker disks using
  42.             the computer on which STACKER is to be installed. (This
  43.             ensures that the disks are aligned with your floppy drive.)
  44.            If you are using DOS 5 or later, use this command at the C
  45.             prompt to format a floppy disk from drive C:
  46.                FORMAT /F:720 /U x: <Enter>
  47.            where x: is the floppy drive where the ORIGINAL disk is
  48.             located.
  49.            Format all three ORIGINAL Stacker disks.
  50.            If you prefer, format under Windows or another desktop
  51.             shell.
  52.                                      Note
  53.                 You might write-protect the new master
  54.                  disks immediately to avoid any damage.

  57.         2. Use DISKCOPY to duplicate the NEW disks (masters) onto the
  58.             ORIGINAL disks (the ones you just formatted).
  59.            In this example, we will assume the disk is in drive B. (If
  60.             the disk you just formatted is in drive B, remove it, then
  61.             continue.) Insert the NEW Stacker Disk 1 into drive B and
  62.             type the command:
  63.                DISKCOPY B: B: <Enter>
  64.            Follow the instructions to change disks. Make sure you use
  65.             the formatted ORIGINAL Disk 1 as the target disk during this
  66.             process. When the copy is done, DISKCOPY will prompt you to
  67.             copy another disk. Repeat the process for Disks #2 & #3
  68.             using corresponding disks. Be careful that you do not mix up
  69.             the disk sets.
  70.         3. When this process is finished, store the master disks (the
  71.             replacement disks). Do not use them for installation. You
  72.             should be able to run Setup from the working disks you just
  73.             created. Follow the procedures outlined in the Stacker
  74.             User's Guide.

  76.        If the working set of Stacker disks still fails to work, please
  77.        use a set of new, blank disks to make another working copy of the
  78.        master Stacker disks. Try Setup again. Have this new set of
  79.        working disks ready when you contact Product Support.
